Another great week for Søster Holbrook in Vejle!

Søster Holbrook is so loving her time in Denmark and she is really enjoying her time in Vejle. Her Daddy served in that same city for 9 month on the mission her served in Denmark many years ago and he loved it there too.

Søster Holbrook has always loved animals but goats are one of her favorite and they are mine too :o)

HALLLOOOOO .... How are you today :o)

 Up, up and away...

I LOVE this food is AWESOME ;o)

Email from Søster Holbrook and Søster Baird:

Hey Everyone!

Some thoughts from Sister Baird:
"I just have to go chronologically this week, there were so many cool things that happened.

Tuesday: We had planned to take a bus up to this neighborhood called Vinding. We'd kind of gone back and forth about going up there, we weren't sure if we really should go up there. As we're sitting on the bus, I started feeling super uneasy and felt like we should not be sitting on the bus. So we got off the bus, and walked back towards the busy streets where the people are to contact. On our way we met two crazy people that tried to convince us demons were going to be unleashed on the 23 of October. Be prepared everyone. (I wonder if that's how we come across to the people we contact. :)

But I don't actually know why we needed to get off that bus. There was no clear miracle or obvious danger. But we got off the bus.

Later that afternoon we stopped by a less active who's really been struggling with her family. Side note: We just called her out of the blue last weekly planning, and she said she really needed a visit. We had felt prompted to bring my violin with us. We asked if we could share a musical spiritual thought, and said I had my violin with me. She was so touched. She LOVES the violin (something we didn't know beforehand). She asked me to play Joseph Smith's First Prayer, and the Spirit was so strong. It was such a sweet experience. She told us that it was a confirmation to her that her Heavenly Father loves her.

Torsday: We went down to this little area called Børkop where we had an appointment with this guy named H. He was a soldier and we think he might have a bit of trauma because of that. But we walk up and knock on the front door, which is made of glass. We can see into their house and he and his girlfriend are sitting at the table. They don't get up to answer the door for about five minutes. (Ok, probably not actually that long, but it felt like forever.) They look at us and are talking to each-other. Then she walks over to the door, and pulls the blinds down! We just stood there not sure if we should stay or go or what. So we decided to write a little note and come back later. As we're standing there writing the note, she peeked through the blinds again to see if we were still there. It was SO awkward.

We went and knocked a different area, but on our way back we passed their house. The girlfriend was in the yard peeping at us over the fence. We looked at her and she ducked and tried to hide behind the fence. Again, so awkward. Sådan er den missionær liv. :)"

Some thoughts from me:

This week we stopped by our friends R and G! We showed up in our service clothes because we had offered service in the past, but they didn't need help with anything. Rose also told us, "I have thought more about the Mormon church and it is not for me." You can imagine how devastated we were because she was the one who we had the most hope for. We told her "oh well we weren't here to talk about that today, just to do some service." Their son Marcus then comes up and says "Hey, do you guys have time to come in and talk for a little bit?" R was still pretty wary at this point, but we got let in! We ended up having a great conversation with them and we left with an invitation to dinner later that same evening! We left to do our other stop bys and then came back for dinner. We had a great time and as we were eating dessert (A chocolate and licorice cake made in the microwave. It was pretty good actually!) R FINALLY opens up about her concerns. She told us about a tv program that she had seen that talked about Mormons, polygamy, and a person claiming to be a prophet just so he could take advantage of women. We of course resolved those concerns real fast and had the opportunity to bear witness of the Savior and that we are only here to bring people closer to Christ. They were really touched and we left with the door again opened to us. She also sent us home with two more paintings (with poems!), two mini flower plants, and a cook book that she never uses anymore.

Our friend Y has been very sick recently so we thought we'd bring her a little "get well gift" and tell her we love her. We planned on doorbell ditching it, but she was outside with her dogs when we showed up!! We had a great conversation and got some much needed hugs. God's timing is perfect!!

Thanks for the support!
Søster Holbrook

The Temputure is FALLing in Denmark

WOW...... It is catch up time for me and Søster Holbrook's blog. It has been TOO many weeks but it is called life so here goes :o).

Søster Holbrook in Give.

Yep... It is the season for tights and they do NOT like it!

Email from Søster Holbrook this week:

Hey Everyone!

Big news. FALL IS HERE. All the stores are now selling jackets and scarves and I can't believe that I hit my "one-year-in-land" mark this week. As it approaches fall, I have reflected back and am just amazed by all the miracles and tender mercies that I have seen this last year. I know that God has sent me to specific areas at specific times for specific reasons.

This week we had a lot of "firsts"
-First time wearing tights this season. You can see in the picture how happy we are about it.
-First time someone threatened to call the cops on us unless we left immediately.
-First time we contacted someone on the gågade that shouted to us (after we had ended our conversation and he had walked a good 50 feet ahead of us) advice on who to contact. "Contact the young guys! They don't already have a religion!"
-First time seeing a puppy cairn terrier (that is the same breed as my dog). It was a cuteness overload.
-First time the famous bakery in our trian station gave free samples of my favorite pastry.
-First time riding a vintage train.

We had a great week! We went on splits with the Sisters in Odense. We gave trainings in two district meetings. We knocked doors. We taught repentance. We taught guest class in church. one cool experience that I will share in detail:
Last Monday we were up in Give, which is the edge of our area. We have an investigator up there we wanted to stop by and re-establish contact (which we did!). After we talked to him, we didn't really have a set plan about where to go or what to do. But we both felt very good about being in Give. We prayed and asked which area of Give we should be in (aka, should we walk to the left or the right to find somewhere to knock) and we both felt like we should go to the left. So we walked down the road and talked to the first person we met. His name is P and he is a science teacher who believes in Jesus and is trying to develop faith. As we talked to him it began to rain. He invited us into a nearby library. As we walked over there, it started to POUR. The three of us ran the rest of the way to the library, but unfortunately the damage was already done. We were pretty wet. But, it was a good first lesson and we're looking forward to meeting with him again.

Thanks for the Support!

Another week in Vejle for Søster Holbrook ... What a wonderful time!!

It was Zone Conference for Søster Holbrook this week and she had a great time there. She loves to see "old" companions and enjoy meeting the other missionaries.

Søster Holbrook and Søster Nelson at Zone Conference.

Jylland is often called the "promised land" among missionaries. I know why. :o)

Hey Everyone!

We saw even more tender mercies this week that confirm we are where we were supposed to be, when we were supposed to be there. There was a day where we were out on the gågade to contact people, but we both felt funny about being there. So we decide to go to a nearby park and there we find an old investigator named Kathrine! She was so excited to see us and she said that she was going to text us so we could come and visit her, but that she had lost our number! Later that same day, we saw another old investigator on his way to Copenhagen! He dropped us a while ago, and still wasn't interested in meeting with us again, but it was a great opportunity to talk with him and share the light!

A young man named O called us this week and wanted to learn more about Christianity! We gave him a pass along card a couple of weeks ago while he was outside the gym with some friends and HE ACTUALLY CALLED US. That is not something that happens everyday. Anyway, we had an appointment with him and he is a nice young guy! He knows almost nothing about the Savior, but he wants to learn so that is super exciting!

A "Søster Holbrook" story for the week: We were knocking doors and at one door we could hear someone vacuuming really loudly inside so I knock pretty hard to make sure she hears it and ended up accidentally OPENING THE DOOR. There was nothing I could do but try to shut the door quickly and stand their awkwardly while she opened the door with a confused look on her face.

Have a great week!
Søster Holbrook

 She is a doll....

It is still raining in Vejle !!

We are still missing our Søster Holbrook but happy she is doing well. Denmark is blessed to have her!!

One year mark for Søster Holbrook on the mission in Denmark.

YES.... Søster Holbrook hit her 1 year mark on the mission this week. Hard to believe that she has been gone for that long. BUT hey time flies when you have fun ;o)

Burning a shirt for my 1 year mark don't worry the shirt had two un-sewable and huge holes and we did it VERY safely.

Church  time can also be "fun" time. Søster Holbrook has always LOVED games and she gives it her ALL.

Søster Baird in the game and she won it. She got the Oreo in her month with NO hands. Way to go Sister :o)

Søster Holbrook is getting many great new friends in Denmark.

Hey everyone!

It is crazy to think that I hit my one year mark this last week. I think about all the things that I could've done this last year, and I am so grateful that I got to be in the Lord's full time service. There is nothing else I would rather be doing, and no where else I would rather be. I love the Lord and I am grateful for this opportunity to be in His service.

Y is doing well. We had a lesson about the Godhead and faith and she told us that her "seed has been planted." She is an incredible daughter of God and we are SO happy to be working with her!

Søster Baird and I had a lot of experiences this week where we were in the right place at the right time to meet people that 1. We had talked to previously 2. Knew a member or 3. Investigated the church previously. It is a testimony to me that the Lord is aware of us and is directing us in HIS work. I could go on about all the little crazy "coincidental" experiences that we have had, but that would take way too long! Long story short: God knows us individually and He is here with us.

Søster Holbrook

Sister Ludlow (my trainer) is in my district and I LOVE IT.

Danish Ice-cream is the BEST! Here it is a Magnum bar one of Lincoln's FAVORITES ;o)

Cute bird feeder outside of a member's home!

Great week with lots of good memories. We love the updates, the pictures, the few voice recordings and the emails. We LOVE you Søster Holbrook.
